Elliot's Video Game Reviews

Welcome to the video game reviews
This month Elliot is reviewing "Castlevania: Lament of Innocence"

"Castlevania's return: back to the beginning" Article by Elliot

Video game Article Number 1
Game: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Rating (out of 5): 4

Overview: Made by the people who developed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the newest installment to this classic series takes us back to the beginning. Leon Belmont is a Baron Knight and fighter for a company of the church. His land comes under attack by monsters, but the church will not allow him a sorte. When his beloved is taken, Leon denouces his title and in true knightly honor runs to rescue her.

But you learn all this from the opening trailer. This game is filled with interesting gameplay and a slightly confusing control style. After you get used to the fact that there is no rotate camera feature, you get used to the handling quickly. The first few minutes however might seem to drag as they are a minor tutorial. About the mood, this is one of the best set games in years. It's linear style doesn't detract from the classic whip and erriely appropriate music. Though how Leon manages to block with his gauntlet, we can only guess. If you're into gothic settings, Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is a classic with dark twists.

Hints: Much like Symphony, you get to figure out alot of skills. Some are fairly easy and require you to tap buttons repeatedly (such as the ever fun air shock by pressing either attacks in any order 4 times) The worst thing you need to get accustomed to is the aiming in this odd 3D world. Don't forget to hit every save point as all HP is restored whether you save or not. And when in doubt, don't be afraid to run. There is no honor in a senseless death.
